A Formula for Formulae

I recently rushed through how to write formulae. The 'timeline' was more important than the actual learning by the pupils because we have prelims and assessments to complete.

So, I sat with a few pupils at lunchtime and went through formula line by line.

"Why didn't we do it this way the first time?"

Out of the mouths of babes...eh?

So, using Adam Boxer's idea of SLOPs, here is my response.

WARNING!

Ionic formula can be quicker and easier than I have shown but what I have attempted to demonstrate is every cerebral decision involved in writing ionic formula. Very quickly, most pupils realise you can do the first three steps on the first line of working - I hope it becomes self-evident as you tackle these.

All the best - I have an issue with WORD at the moment but if you email: inodc771@glow.sch.uk

I will email the word versions.
